“a great day to begin a new season!" christine from canada was excited after transplanting rice seedings this morning. 9 foreigner friends led by hangzhoufeel took part in the first hangzhou mangzhong transplanting rice seedings festival today. among the 300 acres of rice fields in hongqi village of dongzhou, fuyang district, hangzhou, they rolled up trousers and toddled in the fields practicing the traditional farming.
“it's not easy actually," julie from ukraine said," in china we eat rice every day. i see that it's essential part of chinese culture and lifestyle. i'm from a quite cold country so we don't have the possibility to grow rice there, all rice in our country is imported.that's why i've never seen neither the process of planting the rice nor gathering the harvest. i only knew the fact that rice grows in water. that's all my knowledge...so for me it was incredibly interesting to see the way chinese people plant the rice and to try to plant it by myself, to get to know more about chinese farming. and i would say its very hard job!!!i'm very happy to have such unique experience in my life!!! and it would be great to come back in autumn to gather our harvest!!! thank you a lot for inviting us!!! it was very lovely day!"
in the end tata's father from ukraine and maria from romania have won the second and third prize in the transplanting rice seedings competition. “hoping all the best for the rest of the planting and i can't wait to see the fields grow in the next couple of months," said christine with hopes in her eyes.
catching fishes in the mud is also a unique experience for them all. “stepping into the slippery muddy fields and have fun just like when you were a kid," said tata from ukraine. her father caught 8 fishes within half an hour, and they burst into laughter at last.
“thank you @hangzhoufeel for such an amazing and funny day out. it was an experience i think i will always remember," said kae from ukraine.thank you too!
